There is a shortage of nearly 750 Foster Carers in Wales alone. In March 2009, there were 4705 looked after children and young people in Wales and 77% of these lived with Foster Carers.

Independent Foster Care Services (IFCS) recruits, trains, prepares and assesses families who wish to become foster carers and provides comprehensive support for our foster carers in carrying out their essential role.

Foster families can comprise of couples or single carers and IFCS welcomes applications from all sections of society.
